Resting Toddler Face is real. You know it all too well. You just didn’t know what to call it. You thought it was a stage that would soon pass. Nope. It’s Resting Toddler Face. And it only gets worse.

Resting Toddler Face (RTF), can strike at any time. You may look over at your toddler and wonder, “What’s with the face? Did I not cut her sandwich the way she likes it?” Crusts are cut off and it’s cut into triangles with the corners pointing in the south facing direction of the television screen. Now what? What can be causing this RTF?

I first experienced Resting Toddler Face when my toddler turned 2 years old. She asked for something, and I told her “no”. She looked at me in a way I knew there was no turning back.

The key is to learn more about RTF so that when it happens in your home, local grocery store, playground or other public area, you can handle it with ease and style.

Resting Toddler Face: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Causes

Is the child overtired, over stimulated, over this and over that?

Has the child just been told “no”, to something they want?

Are you having green leafy vegetables for dinner?

Is it Monday?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above, then you know where RTF stems from. Simply let the RTF happen. It’s almost bedtime and RTF is likely to subside on it’s own.

Symptoms

Do your child’s eyes look like they can burn a hole directly through your face?

Does your child’s head look like it’s about to explode?

Are your child’s lips pursed and is smoke funneling out of their ears?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, then sorry again. You’ve got some serious RTF all up in your area. Keep your head up, and take a deep breath.

It’ll be over in 2 to 18 years.

Treatment

9 times out of 10, RTF can be resolved with a lollipop. While an easy fix, lollipops are not always the answer and we simply can’t keep that many Dum Dums in our ultra secret, top shelf pantry hiding spot.

It is best to let RTF be. Refrain from agitating it. Don’t apply coconut oil on or around RTF. It will resolve itself over time.

Good luck. And Godspeed.
