I could give you the Top 5 pieces of gear you NEED for a trip to Disney or the Top 5 Rides to ride at Disney, but I don’t think that’s why you come to Bleeping Motherhood.  No, you want to know the ways I ruined my kids’ trip to Disney.  Because chances are, if you take a seven and a four-turning-five year old, you WILL hear at some point about how you are the worst parent ever.  Not because they didn’t have an amazing time (which they quickly only attributed to a plane ride with Daddy), but because, dammit, you spent a lot of money to give them this magical vacation and at some point they’ll be tired enough to be ridiculously ungrateful.

It’s just the way motherhood goes sometimes.  Bleeping Motherhood!

At any rate –

Top 5 Ways I Ruined My Kids’ Trip To Disney World

5 – I made them come to Disney World. Obviously, making them come is what started the whole ruining.  In this case, my oldest wanted to stay at the hotel and play with his cars and I wanted to get to Animal Kingdom quickly to get to the safari.  His favorite ride.  How could I?

4 – I made my daughter meet princesses. When my seven year old son turned five, he also got a trip to Disney World where he met Mickey, Goofy and gang at a character breakfast.  For my newly five year old daughter’s birthday, we had a princess breakfast instead of one with Mickey and friends.  And although she desperately loved the breakfast with the princesses, I’m still hearing about how she didn’t have what her brother had – he met Goofy and she didn’t.

3 – I asked my daughter to enjoy Magic Kingdom.  After an epic meltdown on both of our ends where she ripped her tiara off my head because I didn’t immediately hand it to her after she threw it on the ground, we each had a break from each other.  I then hugged her, said I was sorry for my part in it and asked her if we could find a way to turn the day around and have a great rest of the day.  After all – we’re at the happiest place on earth!  She said no.

2 – I took my daughter on Splash Mountain, even though I said she didn’t have to go and I didn’t want to go.  This, after she rode Mount Everest, the tallest roller coaster in Animal Kingdom!  After riding the Kali River Rapids!  But Splash Mountain broke her.  She wouldn’t ride the Frozen ride in Epcot, even after standing in line for it.  She nearly freaked riding the Monorail.  Worst. Parents. Ever.

1 – I didn’t make them wait in an extraordinarily long line for ice cream.  Wait, wait, they still got ice cream.  They had the ability to dance, play, (or in their case) sit in their stroller and complain about how they CAN’T WAIT A SINGLE MINUTE MORE for their ice cream.  In the meantime, my dad is braving heat, long lines, other grumpy people and a seemingly impossible task of buying and transporting three rootbeer floats, two sundaes and two cups of ice cream through immense crowds without spilling any of it on himself or the ground below.  My husband went in to help with this task.  But, sing it kids, you’ve definitely got it worse.
