You know, sometimes you deserve it.  You deserve that ice cream, and not even coffee flavored.  You deserve to shell pistachios just for you.  And eat them, without it feeling like a race.  You deserve to enjoy a lobster.  It can feel unattainable, right?

How To Eat In Peace

Drop a huge plateful of chicken nuggets on a kid’s table.  Don’t worry, there are organic chicken nuggets.  Next to the chicken nuggets, a row of already poured, sealed drinks.  Next to that, napkins to wipe up their own messes.  Sprinkle new toys from the dollar store on a trail that leads away from where you’d be.  Consider even putting on a new tv show series they haven’t seen and can binge watch.

Then take whatever food desire you are craving and head to the dining room to eat in peace.  Perhaps even light some candles for four minutes of atmosphere.

And, well, if that doesn’t work, you now understand why sneaking treats in the closet is a thing.
