This week I’ve been writing about our failures while camping.  But don’t worry, we did have some wins, and one of them included actually remembering something.  Our kids’ hammocks.

It was an idea my husband had mentioned in our early times of camping with our kids; he had a hammock when he went camping as a kid.  When I saw a favorite company of mine, Biddle and Bop, started selling them, I immediately got these two hammocks for my kids.

They love them.  Seemingly endless fun; either a quiet place to get away from each other, a swing, a trapeze or a snuggle spot.  Any time they felt a little bored or restless, they swung their cares away in their hammocks.

Hammocks – Not Only For Camping

We do set these up at home, attaching them to the rafters in our basement for frequent use.  If the kids aren’t swinging or flipping in these nylon sheets of joy, they disconnect them and swing across the floor with the strings.  And anything that will burn some energy during the “inside” months is a huge win to me!  We do generally keep a spare futon mattress under their “trick” area, but believe me when I say they are very conscientious at listening to their bodies and so far haven’t come crying up the stairs because they hurt themselves on their hammocks (however if they look at each other wrong, cries will commence).

Have I convinced you?  Let me note, we received no compensation for this post.  I bought the hammocks.  I’m writing about them because I love Biddle and Bop and I don’t know what we’d do without these hammocks.

Did you have a hammock as a kid?  Did you wish you did?  Tell us about it – comment below or continue the conversation on the Bleeping Motherhood facebook page!
