I don’t have a ton of pet peeves, but one thing I can’t stand as a mom, is meal planning. I don’t like cooking and I don’t love trying to come up with healthy, interesting meals to feed my family. Three times a day. Every day. I really give credit to moms who come up with fancy dinners, or cute lunches. Or plan ahead meals. My kids get frozen pancakes for breakfast and rolled up ham and cheese for lunch. Dinner is usually mac and cheese and chicken nuggets.

What the hell is everyone else eating? Trying to figure out “What’s for dinner” makes my skin crawl.

I’ve tried thinking ahead, making lists, Googling recipes, etc. And occasionally I do get in a groove and cook interesting, new things. But that soon becomes to be “too much”, and I go right back to the boring usuals.

It might be helpful if my kids had a wider range of things they like to eat, but call me crazy, I stick with what works.

My daughter actually recently started taking a liking to shrimp. So I made shrimp scampi the other night. It was yummy. Now, don’t get all, “see, you can cook things” on me. That’s very rare. And I probably won’t think up anything out of the box to cook for probably another 5 months. Because I can’t stand meal planning or cooking.
