My husband got me a Spa Day for Christmas last year and I was actually able to take advantage on my birthday, which was in April. Yes, it took me 4 months to find time to do this.

I was pretty excited about it, since heck, no kids for 4 hours, people massaging my tired bones, pampering me. Making feel like a pretty, pretty princess. The day was great, and here’s what I learned about myself:

1: It’s really, really hard to just BE, when you are so used to running around after 2 maniac babies. It took me a solid 30 minutes upon my arrival of the spa to settle into the quiet and calmness and just relax.

2: I didn’t realize that having my ass massaged could feel so good and be so incredibly awkward at the same time.

3: My spa package came with a lite lunch which was provided in a small, dimly lit lounging room/area. Eating salad in dim lighting is really awkward, especially when the other people sitting in the room aren’t eating anything and it’s just everyone staring at everyone.

4: I think I would have preferred the upsell of products at the end of my day, instead of right after my relaxing massage. Just because I’m nice and relaxed doesn’t mean I’m going to start putting hundred dollar bills in your garter belt, but nice try lady.

5: I’m going back for spa day #2 (thank you hubby!), so according to my mommy schedule, I should be getting around to enjoying that in about 3-5 months.

Bottom line, spa days can be really enjoyable. After this first go-round, I will definitely try a bit harder to keep my mind clear of the to-do lists, and wonder “what the kids are doing” thinking. And just enjoy MY SELF.
