We’ve all been there.  In our head, planned amazing family vacations where our children would dance happily along next to us.  We’d have the perfect amount of family time, combined with some sleeping in and a delicious meal or two.  Then suddenly you get woken up from your daydream because your toddler has hit you in the face with a half-eaten apple.  Because they only ever eat half.  And you realize, that’s not going to happen.

So you get real and realize your daydream of Paris isn’t going to happen.  Yet.  You think taking a toddler to Paris might be difficult?  We think there are worse places.

Worst Places to Vacation With A Toddler

5: A morgue.

What could be more fun than coloring toe tags and smelling formaldehyde? There’s plenty of more fun places you can travel to with your toddler this summer. It might make for an interesting biology experiment, but let’s maybe save it for those impressionable teenage years, k?

4: Home Depot.

You’ve been saving all winter long. You’ve Googled the best locations. Now pack up the kids. Pack up the car. We’re going to….Home Depot? That’s a serious buzz kill. If you’re forcing me to spend my vaca at a Home Depot, I’m bringing my own cooler with beer, and setting up shop on one of their lounge chairs, right in their outdoor furniture section. And no one can stop me.

3: An amusement park that’s closed down for renovations.

We all know what happened in National Lampoon’s Summer Vacation. You get to your awesome, summer vacation destination and the park is closed. So you go buy a fake gun, kidnap the security guy and have fun anyway.

2:  A garbage and recycling center.

There’s nothing that screams vacation more than a sweet pile of rotting garbage. So order up a pile of those disposable face masks, round up the family and get ready to have the time of our life. Play, swim and mingle in hot trash.

1: Your house.

Spend your vaca in the same place that you spend every other day. Your kids will enjoy playing with all of their own toys and driving you insane the same way they do when you’re not on vacation, because you’ll be doing it in the comfort of your own home. Bring “stay-cation” to a whole new level. But really staying…in your own house.
