On Monday, we gave a long lecture about the importance of getting in the picture with your kids.  Awkwardly, we didn’t talk about how to solve it.  I’m guessing you have a camera on your phone.  Tell your kids to hug you and laugh, use the camera on your phone to take a selfie.  Problem solved, right?  Well, you’ll probably end up with something like this:

And, unless you are me, willing to share it to the Facebook world via a blog post, its not an image you want to share.

I should really rethink my life goals.  Another day.

If you are getting our monthly newsletter of fun, you would have also gotten the first of a couple of tips that Bleeping Audrey is sharing about taking great photos with your camera phone.  Just in case you missed this month’s tip, I’ll share below.  And then make sure you sign up at the bottom of this post for next month’s tip.

Make sure you’re in some light. If your photo is dark, and you can’t see the subject, what’s the point? It’s real simple. Look for light, stand in or near the light, then snap the pic! If you don’t have any natural light handy (like near a window or outdoors), then turn on an artificial light and work with it. Depending on your type of camera phone and it’s editing capabilities, you can always play with the white balance or exposure later. But always strive to have a well-lit image. It’s key.

Already you are anxious to get next month’s tip.  I get it.  Me too.  You saw what I posted above, right?  Never fear, we have more ways to come out with some quality mom in the picture, selfie moments.

Mom, Get In The Picture On Instagram

If you play along with our We Are Real Moms site, each month, we’re doing a monthly prompt challenge.  May is, you guessed it, Mom Gets In The Picture!  For the first 10 days of May, we’ll have a prompt; an inspiration, for you and your kiddo to take together.  Share it with us on Instagram.  Tag us at @warmbybm and hashtag #warmbybm and #warmmay18 – you can also play along on the We Are Real Moms Facebook page.  Then, take advantage of 1 or 10 of the prompts in the image above (not the horrible image of me with my kids) to play along with the community of moms, just like you, who understand the need of getting in the picture with their kids.
